Things To See

Whilst you are on your holiday – there is a fantastic selection of events and things to do. There are plenty of shops that sell day tours, activity trips, boat trips, etc. Whether you like swimming with dolphins or something more extreme like paragliding or high speed quad biking up the rocky mountain or maybe a glammed up relaxing evening at a concert or ballet – there is definitely something out there that you will enjoy doing.

Here’s a list of the things that we have tried ourselves and enjoyed for some ideas.

Siam Park is a water park in Tenerife. It is located on the TF1 highway in Costa Adeje. At 18.5 hectares (46 acres), Siam Park features a Siamese theme, and claims to be the most spectacular water attraction in Europe – and rightly so. We ourselves enjoyed every minute of our experience, its great fun for kids and adults alike.

Hard Rock Cafe Tenerife is located on Playa De Las Americas, the main street through the city, and is housed in one of the biggest buildings on the island. It is surrounded by lots of shops and other bars and is a beautiful walk right next to the beach. The Cafe features 2 floors of dining and relaxing, 2 function rooms and 2 terraces looking out over the beauty of the city. Food and cocktails are delicious as you would expect of them, there is an occasional live band performance, be prepared that is it loud though as its very lively and busy. Excellent atmosphere none the less.

In the middle of the Island of Tenerife sits Mount Teide, which is 3718 meters high and is the highest mountain in Spain. It is also the world’s third largest volcano and is still active! Although the last eruption occurred in 1909.

Mount Teide is the Canary Islands most visited tourist attraction and most of the excursion operators do day trips. You can also rent a car and go up to the mountain. It is a fantastic picturesque walk, absolutely worth the visit. Many tour companies bring visitors to lunch at a restaurant called Restaurante Bambi, near the base of Mount Teide.

On a clear day, there is spectular views of Gran Canaria, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.

Great attraction on board of Royal Dolphin catamaran with a submarine vision, you will have an amazing time cruising about looking at a great diversity of dolphins and whales in their natural habitat.

Loro Parque (Spanish for “parrot park”) is a 33-acre zoo located on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife, Spain where it houses an extensive and diverse reserve of animal and plant species. The park was initially conceived as a paradise for parrots and has developed over the years into one of the biggest attractions of the Canary Islands. The zoo is excellent! For kids and for adults. There are lots of animals including of orcas, gorillas, nice exhibition of pinguins… And hundreds of parrots. There is a lovely tapas bar and several “fast food” type places.

Monkey Park Zoo is yet another fun family place to visit. Personally we aren’t normally keen on places where animals are kept in captivity, however, at the Monkey Park Zoo animals are there for a reason, either because of a poor start in life as something happened to them and they cant fend for themselves anymore, or they are endangered. So it’s the best and safest place possible for them. It is a wonderful experience not just for adults but for young children to get so close to the monkeys and lemurs and I would encourage anyone with a love of animals to visit.

A truly enjoyable experience enabling a different view of Tenerife. Not cheap, but so worth it. A very professional organisation. And the views are breathtaking. You can choose what tour and route you prefer: Grand Teide experience, Cliffs or Gigantes, Beaches & Ravines, etc. Definitely worth checking out.
